Radical Islamists have claimed responsibility for the murder of an Orthodox priest in Moscow last month via an extremist website. Father Daniil Sysoyev was shot dead in his church on November 20.

Sysoyev was famous for his missionary work in Islamic areas and for the fight against sectarianism and occultism.

The website, which is run by radical Islamists in the Republic of Ingushetia, named the priest an enemy who insulted the teachings of the prophet Muhammad.

It claims the killer is now in Russia’s Caucasus region. It also says the priest’s murder was filmed on a mobile phone, Rosbalt news agency says.

This is indeed a tragedy and will be used by right wing Orthodox Clerics to fan bigotry. I wonder why Fr.Sysoyev tageted Muslims, yes, we as Christians are all called to spread the Word but Orthodoxy in Russia despite the high profile Putin has given it is in trouble and cults are abundant in "holy" Russia. Perhaps Fr. Sysoyev found more fertile ground for XC in Muslims than in the cradle Orthodox in Russia which would make this even a deeper tragedy. May his memory be eternal.

Fresh clashes between Yemen and Saudi Arabia has cost the lives of hundreds of people- among them women and children. Reports suggest the United States is directly involved in this conflict. There are reports of renewed clashes between the authorities and pro western groups in Iran. Nine people were reported to have been killed. The U. S. Departments-which calls these protesters “pro democratic”, condemned killing of the Iranians protesters. Few days ago the U.S State Department also condemned the killing of the relatives of Muslim imam/activist in the Caucus region of Russia. Remarkably, the U. S State Department has not said anything publicly about the recent cold blood murders of number of high profile Russian Orthodox Priests, law enforcement officials and ordinary civilians. In the meantime, there is an aggressive attempt to talk about Russian/European security accord-which is really a playing tactics as mayhem and destabilizing programs have been implemented in the Middle East, Central Asia and the Caucuses!

Bob Of course, I have no concrete evidence that this heinous murder of Russian Orthodox Priest has Western link but inflaming religious tensions as a geopolitical strategy has been used by the United States and its European allies in Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan and in Afghanistan. In Somalia, in 2006, the United States and its European leaders and subordinates, have sponsored the invasion of Somalia by primarily Christian mercenary troops belong to the tribe of the current leader of Ethiopia, Meles Zinawi. These troops have committed un reported and under reported war crimes- including extensively documented systematic rape of women and girls but also they have committed the systematic vandalism of Islamic educational institutions and the symbols of Somalia national identity. These acts enraged the entire population and rather subduing the population we got the rise of extremely radical group call Al Shabab. I believe Americans wanted this result because it justified the United States plan of militarization of the Horn of Africa. The same formula has been repeated in Iraq where secular forces of nationalism have been replaced with fragmented groups and sectarian infighting. Again, this is was the desired goal of the United States. In Yemen, the United States is using Saudi Arabia to bring civil war to that country. I believe money from Saudi Arabia- which has often the tacit or direct support of the CIA- is fueling the current crisis of security in the Caucuses. Russia needs to wake up and prevent this threat to its national security before it is too late.
