An elderly lady staying in Finland with her daughter needs constant care. However, Finnish authorities intend to deport her next week, but given her fragile condition, she might not even survive the journey to Russia.

I want to Thank Prime Minister Putin for intervening in this case of elderly woman who is so frail. As the mother of her daughter, Irina has the closest tie to her daughter via to womb that gave birth to her daughter. This issue speaks something sinister in the Finish immigration laws. Few years ago, I saw a documentary of another finish horrific immigration deportation case in which a young Somali immigrant was taken away from his young Finish wife and two years old baby daughter and was deported back to the war torn Somalia because he got speeding ticket. This young man had no any other criminal record. I cannot forget tears streaming down from his young wife as she worked so hard to keep her husband inside the country. When a society acts in this cruel and inhumane ways, it says something deeper about the climate of the that society at that moment.

Finland really have to get a look at their immigration laws again. Who else will be a close relative more than a mother who gave birth to you? This a definitely a crazy world we are living in.

Why this family was not trying to do anything before keeping their mother-in-law illegally in Finland????? I have my mom in Russia too- I know she can't flight so fahr and I can't support her here in US! I wouldn't keep her here by breaking the law. Period. So I work here and sent her caregiver money, so she is as comfortable as could be in the situation. There are many ways to solve this problem! Why is it the Finnish problem? we all know how bad Russian Government is to it's older Citizens! Let's talk about THAT and shame Russian greatest great Putin... it's easy to speak about generosity of OTHERS but not to be good to your own citizens!.

When I was in US (I was single) on green card, I was able to file green card for my parents, now I moved to Finland 3 years ago as I am married to Finnish women, and I have PR to Finland and I filed for my parents immigration as I am the ONLY child to my parents, there is no body in Korea or anywhere in the world, who can take care of my old parents, so when I filed for PR for my both parents in Finland, they denied it, they say, Parents are not close relatives to be granted PR, by Finnish Law. but by Finnish law, cohabitant, who are not married but just living together CAN apply and be granted PR, even for the same sex marriage, so they basically promoting the stupid culture of gay partnership and cohabitant, but not marriage, while your elderly parents can go to hell without your help. I wish I have stayed in US, NEVER married to Finnish citizen.

These Nordic states are all made with this disgusting kind of laws created after the taste of those people...for them is not important the mother , the father, the son or the daughter...this is not a family..family is only someone you can have sex with...they are like this and I hope all the world should know it. I was 19 years old and they said I was not anymore the son of my mother...I was a different family...disgusting people.

Who did say that this old woman was illegal? She had her visitor visa, the family filled documents for PR, but they denied it! I agree that Russian government doesn't take care about its own senior citizens, however, mother is the closest relative ever! I think that Finish immigration laws are insulting and against humanity! I can't respect Finland anymore like I used to do!
