Iraqi refugees in Egypt: living a nightmare

Tens of thousands of Iraqi refugees are stuck in Egypt, supposedly a transit country before they are to be resettled by a UN body. At the moment they have no rights and no future. Freelance writer Mona Abouissa met them.

I have suffered a lot from living in Arabic country such as Egypt , thousands of Iraqis without any assistance from human right organizations & government , many Arabic countries such as Jordan & Syria invest the big numbers of Iraqi refugees to get some benefits and money support from both UN agencies & Iraqi government to host those Iraqis on their land . Egypt one of the losers countries whom looking for such support , each time when you meet an Egyptian person , he told you that they have thousands of people are starving & home less , "how come our government support Iraqis " ? now what is the best action needed to help them ? When I was in Egypt I have one of the wonderful people who was helping more than hundreds of families such as the famous Iraqi musician ( Naseer Shamaa" and mother Teresa of Iraqis ( Dr. Barbara H. Bond ) .
