Israel has and is still producing nuclear weapons and it uses these and its other American sanctioned and financed hoard of other weapons of mass destruction to land grab and ride rough shod over Palestinian rights and Palestinian land. The Arabs, no matter from what country in that region have every right to attempt to destroy any of these Isreali weapons of mass destruction. The USA is committed to a predetermined ongoing program of invading and occupying all of the middle East oil producing nations even if it means killing innocent civilians, this is the same evil people who killed more than 90% of the American indigenies so that they could steal their land. Who are these experts? This is a PR spin. This is very dangerous spin. However, one thing is clear, the United States, and not little Israel, that will order an attack on Iran if war against Iran is to be undertaken. I do believe that the United States needs to this war in order to avoid the collapse of the U.S dollar and for energy domination sake. One of the central components of this war making effort is to charm Russia to come on board by offering endless fake concessions to Russia. I am deeply worried for Russia’s lack of clarity on this because the current President of Russia made number of clear and unmistakable errors when he gave number of speeches which suggest Russia will standby if Iran was attacked by the United States and Israel. One of these speeches is his rather ambiguous interview with CNN and also his equally ambiguous speech he gave during his G20 meeting in the United States. In his CNN interview, Medvedev made a cardinal error when he failed to state in clear and unmistakable terms why Russia will not accept military aggression against Iran. Now, Rasmussen is in Moscow reassuring nervous Russians that NATO will not attack Russia militarily! What does this statement says about NATO/US view of Russia as military power that can play central role in global security when NATO feels entitle to reassure Russia that it will not be Nuked by NATO!

So I am correct in thinking that the message is - Iran can not 'punch' as hard as Israel can? Or is the message - Israel can hit Iran so hard that any punch Iran make back in retaliation will be so weak and short lived that it will be insignificant in comaprison (and therefore politically acceptable)? Well, one thing that history has shown us is that a powerful aggressor (and Israel would be the aggressor if it started something first) is that they can often end up 'biting off more than they can chew' when they pick a fight with a 'weaker' opponent. Israels best friend and 'body guard' the US should be able to give them several examples of doing just that over the last 40 years. Also, if things don't go quite to plan and Iran land 'a lucky punch' that causes significant damage, can Israel rely on its best friend and body guard to come running and take over the fight? I am concerned that the two countries that could put the brakes on this issue - Russia and China - are being 'bought off' with all sorts of nice deals (like Russias recent oil contract in Iraq of all places). At the moment Israel is merely trying to turn up the volume of the war drums, so a shooting match is not likely to start yet (especially as Iran have not been suffiently weakened by sanctions nor isolated suffiently politically), but we are edging closer. Expect to see more reports of 'the growing Iranian threat to the world' after the new year as Israel (and the US) use the media to 'talk up' the Iranian nuclear issue. If Iran don't start using the world media as effectively as its critics, and soon, they will loose the coming war before before it even starts. Popular oppion in the west is already against Iran and if its people are dehumanised too, then it will be much easier for certain other countries to get away with bombing them.

So from reading this article it appears that Israel is now threatening Lebanon with destruction - in addition to Iran. Which country is supposed to be the biggest threat to world peace in the region (after the Americans)? Clue - It is certainly not Iran.

I should have read comments before venturing mine. I fully agree with Sarah. It was a weird performance by NATO chief in Moscow. His face was twisted as if the performance gave him a great deal of pain. Promising Russia that NATO will not attack it, and therefore, you Russians should not feel paranoid! There was nothing sincere, nothing real, nothing even remotely respectfull in his tone and the manner of delivery. I felt frozen. Yet, however painfull it was for NATO chief to utter those words that he did not mean, it is sometimes good to make people say them. And he had to say them. I have also been suprised by Medvedev's hedging at times, but I keep in mind that the official postion coming out of Moscow has not changed. It looks to me that Medvedev is playing Obama. Obama goes around the world and says whatever people would like to hear. Then comes Hillary or Biden or any other official to restate the well known, good old Bush doctrine in Clintonista's language.

Both comment reveal thinly disguised hostility toward Russia. As for Medvedev, political gamesmanship in politics ins fine and can be fun but he needs to set Russia’s position toward the looming conflict between Iran and Anglo American imperial class in clear and unmistakable terms. Evidently we have people who are ignorant of military history (Mike for one). The Russians, Britons, Americans, Australians, Canadians, (and all their allies) defeated Hitler's evil war machine (and Japan). I had a great uncle who died in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. Mike you are an idiot, try reading some military history. The land that the Israelis have has been given to the by God (read the Torah or Bible). The Palestinians are Arabs who migrated to this area and "occupied" the land. If all of the Arab nations hadn't decided to attack the Jews in 1947/1948 and also in 1973, they would not have lost their property. I can only imagine what would happened to the Jewish population had the Arab nations succeeded (Egypt, Syria, Jordan, etc.). Go ahead and keep supporting these "islamic facist terrorists" who blow up buses and fire rockets into civilian population centers. The former CIA Osama bin Laden expert, Michael Scheuer, said it best during a TV interview on CNN a while back: "Israel is not worth a single American life." I, for one, hope the Americans are not going to be stupid enough to support or encourage Israel to attack Iran in any way. It would be sheer lunacy, since an effective strike against dispersed Iranian nuclear facilities is practically impossible without the use of nuclear weapons. Never mind Iran's potential terror threats - a military strike against Iran itself and any disruptions of shipping in the Hormuz Strait would jack oil prices way past $150/barrel, which would effectively cause the fragile world economy to fizzle and fail. This time, there would be no more TARP money or any other kind of money, and a depression would be likely to result. The Iranians and Americans are not idiots - they know this would happen, so I don't foresee a green light for Israel to go ahead and bomb anything. In fact, I'm sure the Americans are telling Israel behind closed doors that the sanctions would be against Israel in case of an attack. At least I hope so! Who gives a damn if Iran gets a few nukes? They know that they will never be able to use them for anything, since they would face nuclear annihilation from both Israel and the US, ending the regime and the country. With US anti-missile technology, the Iranians can't be sure to hit Israel with a nuke anyway, so why they would be stupid enough to launch one and risk the end of their regime and/or country? Nukes are a no-win proposal for Iran, so let them go ahead and bluster. Better to support the domestic Iranian unrest so it topples the mullah regime.
