Negotiators have reached a draft deal, which will see Iranian uranium processed in Russia and France to produce ready-to-use nuclear fuel rods.
This is good news. If all parties work together and work fairly (ie Iran gets its enriched and reshaped Uranium back) then we could finally have an end to all this talk of sanctions and bombing. There is still a lot that can go wrong with this deal, and one or two other countries in the middle east will not be happy to see things moving forward in this way. The Iranians may still stir this deal up a bit as they will need to show the world that they have not 'bowed down before the US'. So don't hold your breath just yet, there may be a twist in this story............
Iran wins hands down and tosses a bone of consolation to the west. Iran shear brilliance! You will still enrich, which you have every right to do, and the west has a story to pedal that the enrichment is being done in the west, when really this is only for a research reactor. Great result for Iran, Great result for the world, and a nice path for the western hypocritical snake to slither along. Wow what happens when you get a reactor up, with careful design you get some nice friendly warm neutrons!
Iran has shown seriousness and sincerity throughought all the negotiations with various agencies and governments regarding its intentions for developing nuclear technology. Some states and chauvinist groups, notorious for concocting lies and pursuing hidden agendas, have portayed Iran in the most nefarious ways. I am sure they will come up with other attempts at interfering on the sovereignty of Iran. Thery will get nowhere. Now, how about Israel? What's going to happen to its huge arsenal of nuclear weapons? Don't the other countries in the Middle East have the right to be secure from possible Israeli attacks too? After all, Israel has always been the aggressor country and keeps threatening other states with attacks on any manufactured grounds. This has been the history of the Middle East since the inception of Israel.
If this could be done what will keep Iran from making bomb grade material elsewhere or even underneath IEA noses? This short little article is not enough information to trust this NWO deal! Keith
It's time to wait and see. France is a proxy. The enrichment in Russia, and the production of rods in France. The enrichment is for scientific and medical purposes, therefore, higher then the enrichment needed for the production of electricity. Now, it all depends on what quantities will be shipped to Russia, and then, to France. If the production will be staggered in a manner that France gets only a fraction for final product, but not all. That way, if France delivers the finalized product, it can then get the next installment from Russia. It makes no sense to have France be the gatekeeper. What if, following the receipt of the entire enriched material, France decides to refuse to send it to Iran? Nothing is sacred here. Somebody wants to get hands on Iran's nuclear material, and the proof will be in the details of the deal. The process should shift on Israel's nuclear weapons. And Iran, following normalization, should join SCO, to solve many of its problems in the future, including nuclear energy.
Bianca, Spot on, we need to encourage Iran to join the SCO and build them into the community. Inclusiveness and tolerance build trust, the one ideology approach trying to be pushed by the west, just brings hatred and conflict. Also yourself and armen08 are correct, once Iran is settled, the world, led by Russia must focus on Israel and the removal of its nuclear weapons. I will find it unacceptable, and hypocritical, if Russia does not lead this call! In terms of deal I really think it is the way to go, Uranium beer (strength) is OK to make by countries for their power needs, the stronger Uranium Spirits need a bit more control, and of course the whole system needs monitoring. Once every body follows through and supports the rights of countries to use nuclear power for civilian use, then we will see a more open attitude to inspection. It is a challenge for the world to make civilian use of nuclear power possible. There is no option to deny rights to some, because they are not in your gang! or you want to own the fuel cycle for political and financial gain.

I am surprised at France being included in this deal, must be a lot of incentives or the French are doing it for free. The French can never be trusted on any major deal, look at the Chinese, they will only deal with the French unless there are no alternatives. French are too damn devious for their own good. They will betray their own people, especially those that are prepared to lay down their lives to defend France as well. Look at their colorful history. Hope something comes of this deal with the Russians. We don't need another war in the region. Can't afford to pay anymore taxes.
