An investigator from the Interior Ministry of Russia’s republic of Ingushetia was shot and killed outside his house Saturday. This adds to the recent days of bloodshed in Russia's southern republics in the Caucasus.
Also, one person has died in hospital from injuries they received on Friday during an attack on a police checkpoint near Ingushetia's largest city, Nazran.
In Chechnya, at least three policemen were injured in a suicide bomb attack in the capital, Grozny.
And in neighbouring Dagestan, four militants were killed in a shootout with special forces. Authorities say a terrorist ringleader was among the dead.
In recent months, Russia's southern republics have seen a surge in violence, despite a crackdown on militants.
