lol great picture there and yes President Chavez is the only true Socialist leader in the world today cause he takes care of the poor, and still the middle class and the upper-class has a decent living. That is something to admire. He is one of my absolute favourite leaders in the world for sure.

Hugo Chavez is a remarkable guy!! His orientation on Russia is a very good strategic move and I am sure Venezuela will gain many benefits by that. Chavez is very popular leader in the whole Latin America. That explains why he is hated so much in US.

We should not overdo trough the media on the good relations between Russia and the countries who dislike America and the West. Those imperialist are bad losers who for most of them survive thanks to their military economies. Those "bastards" have great experience in dirty tricks and using corrupt puppets to create troubles. Let us keep on unifying the good peoples (including US citizen) and explain to the World what has been the capitalist strategy until now...For sure, we must not recreate a two blocs system...Best Regards...Jean-Claude Meslin

Vladimir I watched the entire 40 minutes Chavez /Medvedev conference in Moscow yesterday ( see the press conference in the RT website). After watching the weak applauses to Chavez’s comments and the disinterested faces from mainly business men in black suits- I can see some potential pitfalls for this on surface budding Russia/Venezuela relations. The room was filled with businessmen . Men from this class have no interest in solidarity with the poor of the Third World. They are interested in doing business and they do business with everybody. These men in black also shape Russia’s foreign policy. It was according their economic agenda that Medvedev plays a close friend of Obama—the current leader of the empire of chaos. What these business class do not grasp is their business agenda will not succeed without coupling it with the power of soft power- volunteerism, developmental projects and internationalism. The Russian business elite have no interest in following up the Soviet Union's commitment to the oppressed people of the Third world. This is why Russia pays scant attention to Africa because Africa is not "profitable"- the bottom line is what Russian business elite care about- not democracy, or anti-colonial solidarity or fair new multi-polar world order. My fear is that the empire of chaos has designs for Venezuela and if Hugo is weakened by squandering the nation's resources in Russian weapons—rather then developing the economy- Russia’s massive economic investment and potential chance to improve the lives of Venezuelan people will be lost. To avoid this Russia must increase economic trade with Venezuela and increase the living standards of ordinary people both Russian and in Venezuela . If they fail, the old and blood sucking U.S backed oligarchs are waiting in the wings and will take over state power again. They are already gaining grounds on Chavez my using seemingly the democratic processes.

I can respect any leader who takes care of his people and seeks to safeguard their future and that of their posterity. I admire any nations that truly strive for the success and benefit of fellow-nations. Better and best have come to be defined by military might and use of force but we need to redefine what "Good" truly is and these strengthening of relations appear to be a step in the right direction.

Of all the socialist thugs I've seen in this world, chavez is by far, the dumbest looking one. I've heard his speeches, I've seen the man in action, he looks like he suffers from downs syndrome and his behavior reinforces my belief. He doesn't care about the poor, if you believe that you haven't been paying attention. He's a thug of the worst order and as such I'm embarrassed to witness the good and decent Russian people making any sort of deal with him.

- I will like to inform the World... that the Youtube is the most brutal police system who ever existed in the history of mankind or who ever dictator did have to control peoples opinion and they work with the USA governement... I mean they spy on people by storing the messages or opinions and each video that people watch on it... without asking anybody... since a good time they did block my tool to give points on comments from other peoples just because I did good comments about CHAVEZ and last week just because of sending one smiling face to one of its gangsters they did threat me to cancel my account channel... which means there is no freedom of opinion or to allow free information to the people... and they will invent any excuse to anulate you if you do not agree with their political points of views... plus if you notice each time there is a political event they bombard the service with their washing-brain videos sometimes in the level of terrorism promoting wars or the killing of political adversaries... and in those cases they simple do not react or make any objection or block those kind of videos calling for murdering, insulting people or sabotage... I think the solution to this abusive Internet video service made in USA is to make a deal with China to allow using the Youku video system for Latinoamerica and Russia in both respectives languages... and to allow some improvements on the spid of the system... Thanks... please share my comment with all the people you can....

I don't know if any of you saw Oliver Stone's documentary, South of the Border. The film criticizes the U.S. media and how they misrepresent South American leaders like Hugo Chavez. It's a very eye-opening film! Oliver Stone has uncovered a lot about the ideologies of South American Presidents. To see what I mean, check out this clip from the film: http://vimeo.com/15461249
