From January 10 onwards a law imposing house arrest for minor offenses will be in effect in Russia. The bill, approved by President Medvedev at the end of last year, could help thousands avoid imprisonment.
This is a great idea and should be global wide.
Adults being grounded, minorly shamed so that they will think and not network or become their own caste.
Great idea!

This is amazing. I just did a calculation and this could save the Russian government over 20 million U.S dollars (approx. 600 million roubles). Here is the calculation 25,000 roubles converted to dollars via Google is 837, per prisoner. 837 dollars * 2000 prisoners * 12 months = 20088000. Medvedev is actually focused on reducing government spending, unlike Obama, who tries in everway possible to increase government spending.
