Thousands of women and children worldwide are killed every year because their families believe they brought dishonor on them. These killings have recently been on the rise within immigrant communities in Western Europe.

The problem with a culture that has honor killings is that those that shun the culture are often the ones targeted for honor killings. Until we offer safe ways for the youth (or progressive adults) to leave places where they are at risk of becoming victims of honor killings, this issue will not be resolved.
