Security at Harrods – the luxury store for the well-heeled – has always been important. Now, though, they really have a dedicated employee guarding some of their more precious fashion accessories.

Cedrick, a cobra, was brought in to protect a pair of $US 128,000 jewelled designer shoes. The deadly snake was hired to guard a pair of Rene Caovilla shoes, encrusted with sapphires, diamonds and rubies.

The snake's handler was even not allowed near the shoes and was almost bitten by the over eager guard.
