Ordinary Russians arm themselves for protection

More and more Russians choose to take their protection in their own hands, as they buy guns and obtain permits for them.
One of the smartest things citizens can do for themselves is to get trained to safely use and maintain small arms. It can save your life and your family's life. No one wants to be dominated and abused by criminals. A rifle, pistol or shotgun can be a great equalizer in a bad situation. The POLICE are seldom anywhere around when bad things like RAPE, ROBBERY, ASSAULTS AND MURDER happen. Honest, law abiding citizens should not have to be in a position of being victimized because they are defenceless. A criminal will think twice about attempting a crime if he/she expects a shot gun to blow his/her head off. The edge needs to be on the side of the good guys, not the villians.

I'd keep a gun in the house, especially in a competitive environment - for hunting. It's always been my philosophy that if everyone has a gun then everyone is protected but then you get these gangs that rise up. Family friends and they network in with corrupt people in exchange for whatever. The rejects become ubber paranoid. Once one fires a bullet, everyone dies like a ring. Who is good and bad? It's hard to know if you don't truly know somebody. How about a taser and neighborhood watchdogs? If the whole community agrees on a certain type of protection, then it probably serves everybody. It's like a tribe. The police then have to at least pay attention to you, have some fear besides some odd mania trip. Standing alone will leave you no place to stand.
