The worst drought in fifty years in Russia has forced the government to introduce an export ban on wheat.
World famine is in the future.
Russia and other countries have bigger issues to address. Multinationals like Monsanto are systemically cannibalizing the world's food supply. Monsanto Recently won a Supreme Court Case that lifted a ban on genetically modified alfafa. No study had been done to determine if these modified genes could contaminate the genes of other crops. There is a direct correlation between agriculture adulteration and national environmental health issues. Russia's unadulterated natural resources are at risk for contamination by multinationals. Multinationals are not assessing the adverse risk to world populations of food adulteration because non-sovereign states are focused on money.

Russia was not forced to introduce the ban. The ban was Russia's solution to a problem with wheat production this year. Not saying it was a good or bad decision. But, it will have international ramifications that Russia will have to deal with in the future.
