The truth is they didn't get rid of him because of homosexuality, but because of the fact that this was an aggresive animal. The other thing is that this elephant is not gay, the whole "incident" is just because of some stupid homophobic politician asked about it(if he's gay) and press made a topic out of it(firstly in humourous manner). Politicians "clues" about elephant being homosexual was that he didn't want to mate with 'lady' elephant which was brought to him, and "he beat her with his trumpet and pushed her into the pool"(exact translation of this crazy politicians words). Zoologists commenting on this topic explained that he's probably just too young and he has a time for it later ;-) The funniest thing about whole this case was that gays treated this dead serious and started to come from around the world to see this animal - some time later manager of this zoo "thanked" this politician because they earned a lot of money on inceased number of visitors.
