A Lieutenant Colonel in Russia's Federal Security Service has been arrested on suspicion of illegally revealing the address of journalist and human rights activist, Anna Politkovskaya, to her murderers.

Lieutenant Colonel Pavel Raguzov was detained on Wednesday.  Two previous attempts to get a warrant for his arrest were rejected on legal grounds.

Anna Politkovskaya, an outspoken critic of the Kremlin who worked for the ‘Novaya Gazeta’ paper, was shot dead outside her home on October 7, 2006.

In a case with no connection with Politkovskaya's death, Raguzov faces charges of abduction, abuse of office and illegal entry.
