I am on the farmer's side. I take it the person broke into the home or barn of this farmer. One has a right to protect themselves and their property. A criminal did a criminal act and now is victimized by the authorities. Not a good idea to take that route.

The prosecutor is a bigger enemy of the farmer than the intruder. The farmer will need to deal with the prosecutor first.

The farmer has the right to protect his propety - if more folks did this robberies would be reduced and the jails would be less populated.
