European security isn’t NATO prerogative – Medvedev

President Dmitry Medvedev has said in an interview to state TV channel Rossiya that a new model of European security is an alternative to NATO expansion in all directions.
When it comes to World security and peace, I believe that everyone that could be affected (everyone), has a right and even a moral obligation to voice an opinion. The planet is quite interdependent.
Russia has the best security possible, EU and NATO has nothing to gain from aggression against Russia. It is only natural that small countries next to Russia will seek further security, but Russia itself has nothing to fear.

It is not for Medvedev, or for anyone else outside of NATO, to decide whether NATO meets its members' security needs. That is for NATO members and for them alone to determine.
