The European Parliament has called on five member states to recognize the independence of Kosovo.

Spain, Slovakia, Romania, Cyprus and Greece are the only EU states yet to support the sovereignty of the region, which broke away from Serbia in 2008.

Members of the European Parliament say recognition by all members is necessary to work out a common foreign policy toward Kosovo.

Stylianos Chrysostomidis, a journalist from Athens, explained to RT why he thinks the five countries are against recognition.

EU and Albanians in Kosovo are getting nervous, because they know that the project of independent Kosovo will fail moment when occupational forces of Nato leave Serbian province of Kosovo. This is why EU and US are pushing hard Serbia to recognize Kosovo as a state. It is very tough to settle in someones teritory what Albanians did and consider it theirs and bear in mind that at one point Serbswho are the real owners of that land will once decide to come back and retake it. Imagine situation where you enter someones property and take it forcibly from the property owner what Albanians did with Serbian land Kosovo.

Enrique...How do you explain Germany's occupation of parts of former Yugoslavia then? Obviously, Germany doesn't contribute to its own military as much as it does to the maintenance of NATO...NATO is Germany's mercenary proxy...In return for generous land grants to US military bases and other forms of financial support, NATO carries out Germany's Cold War prerogatives which more & more resemble those of WWII....

Historic background, who cares? Fair treatment for all parties involved, are you nuts? This is just hypocrisy in the worst degree! All hail to Mr. Herman Van Rompuy, the new Emperor!
