A Russian plane with 120 people on board has successfully landed at the city of Khabarovsk in the Far East despite losing part of its radio-locator during the flight.

After the ‘IL-62’ landed, it was discovered that the front of the plane was totally destroyed.

The crew reported hearing a loud 'clap' while the plane was flying through a storm but the aircraft continued to function normally.

It is believed the plane may have been struck by lightening.  An investigation is underway.
