The Venezuelan president talks a good war, but relatively low military spending belies the aggressive rhetoric. His troops have been kicking their heels for 10 years, while rumors spread of more covert tactics.

The rather stronger evidence of Chavez's support for FARC came when weapons seized by the Columbian military from FARC were found to have been manufactued in Sweden. The Swedish manufacturer stated that the end user certificates for the weapons in question showed that they were sold to Venezuela for use there and not for onward export. I don't trust anyone who makes themself "president for life". It would be nice if Chavez rewarded those that voted for him - the poorest sections of Venezuelan society by delivering on promises of redistribution of the country's oil wealth to their benefit. All Chavez seems interested in is interfering in the politics of surrounding countries and ranting about America.
