Bin Laden tracked down?

Published 19 Feb, 2009 07:50 | Updated 1 Dec, 2009 22:10

A Californian professor claims he has pinpointed where Osama bin Laden could be hiding out.

According to a team led by geographer Thomas Gillespie, the world's most wanted terrorist can be tracked down to the town of Parachinar, 12 miles inside Pakistan.

Scientists say the terrorist’s possible location was found by using patterns of how animal species spread.

The choice of town was based on the theory Bin Laden would choose a large metropolis with a similar culture to Afghanistan where he can remain anonymous.

“If he’s still alive, he honestly could be sitting there right now,” Thomas Gillespie said.

The scientists said that this tribal area is still the safest – one of the few not bombed by the US unmanned Predator aircraft.

Reports that he’s been seen playing pool with Elvis remain unconfirmed.
