I think Jehovah's Witnesses brain wash people. The brain wash them from hatred, stealing. lying, leaving their family, etc. The list can go on and on. So brain washing is a good think because it made them better people. Look at all the good they do. And over 100,000 in Russia. Wow. That means you have over 100,000 people that do not steal, lie, smoke, do drugs, etc. Look how much money they are saving Russia. You have over 100,000 people loving all races.. No hatred. Wow. It seems like a wonderful place to live because of Jehovah's Witnesses. Low crime rate. Since the media is making a big deal about this religion, I think I going to study with them. In this way I will see for myself. Thanks to Dan for expressing his hatred...I will check them out.

I was stuned to see the video, mainly because every single one of the videos shown about witnesses are in the absolute not true, I was shocked that RT could post such videos that have nothing to do with withnesses, I would like to ask for those videos to be changed because those people in the videos are not witnesses, they are some random people who are NOT witnesses, because witneses do not fight, do not do karate, or do not act like they have been possesed by something. If you have been informed that they are witnesses then I would research again and get the RIGHT Jehovah's Witnesses, they are absolutley nothing like the video shows.

This is truly a joke! I cannot believe the video. NOTHING in the video has ANYTHING to do with Jehovah's Witnesses. In fact it is TOTALLY the opposite. Whether you believe them or not, I do know that their beliefs are TOTALLY peaceful. Why would a news site make up untrue video for this? Very wierd!

This is typical Russia. I am sad to see RT news displaying such a farce of news. First, who is this 'expert', he's clueless. He neither has answers or convincing remarks as to why the JW is being banned, but he thinks they should be. Second, the footage in the background is from different countries, different religions, and different acts having NOTHING to do with JW. It is blatant propaganda by a news agency sympathizing with a still marxist regime. RT, you will no longer be respected on this subject as you are simply a puppet. Thirdly, a 7million (200,000 in Russia) member organization can hardly be called a 'sect' or a 'cult'. It simply is a world religion with devout followers that tell everyone how THEIR religion and government is a farce. They don't incite violence or are anti government. This segment is a farce.

First, I have been an avid reader of RT, but now you have put my readership into question. First, I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses who live in America. When I saw the footage that you placed in the interview, I was appalled. The footage showed people of other religions, yet your entire discussion was based on Jehovah's Witnesses. Your viewers would rightly assume that the people in your cut scenes were Jehovah's Witnesesses, or that Jehovah's Witnesses acted in such a manner...WHICH IS NOT TRUE. It was an attack using media. I understand media, because I own a media company. Your tactic was blatant. Your story was not verified, and your specialist was only an opinion maker. You should be ashamed...but what you did was not unexpected. The bible clearly specifies and identifies this time that we are living in. What is even clearer is that you have now constituted yourselves as an enemy of Jehovah. This is something which you should fear, because God is a spirit, not made of flesh and bone.

I watched the video of the witnesses and i was appalled that the RT would show such nonsense in order to stop people responding to the preaching they do, all i can say is keep spreading these completly false claims..all they serve is to show people who are not JWs how close they are to 1st century christians and because of this they are persecuted. it always backfires on the authourities, i noticed that the Rt did not show witnesses being hung from stakes by there arms behind there backs like the USSR did to them in the 50s. Keep up the good work Russian TV you help more people to draw close to JWs with your lies than the witnesses ever could.

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I watched this video and I was shocked that RT did not double check their source video to make sure it did not represent another religion, because that is what it did.. Jehovah's Witnesses did not get a fair showing on your program. That has tainted my view of your true journalistic abilities. Journalists are supposed to shows the facts not present propaganda pieces. It is no wonder Jehovah's Witnesses are facing severe persecution in your country it is because media outlets and other people in positions are not fair in their views towards something different than what they are accustomed, they have allowed themselves to be tools for those mainstream religions that wish to attack the successful Jehovah's Witnesses. I will go even further and say Jehovah's Witnesses are the best thing you have in your country and you do not even appreciate it. They care about their neigbors and perform a service to help improve peoples lives for the better. They are all over the world and do the same thing where ever they are. If they were such a threat to any country would they have even gotten this big? Back to RT. Shame on you for doing such a bad representation.. Even your guest was conflicting in his own reporting he tried to make them look bad but they are so good, he had a hard time doing so.. As a Jehovah's Witness I know some day the tables will be turned.. The ones that are scared are the ones who have to resort to lies to slander, and it is no great feat.. The truth is Truth will prevail in the end it always does..

This is the second time viewing the RT Site and after seeing the video and the way it was distorted in portraying JWs..... I will not view this site again. What horrible distorted reporting!!!!! And as for the man in the interview...........While your wife may have not wanted to be preached to at the Salon, isnt it better to be hearing something that holds out hope? rather than deal with all the garbage thats out there? JWs extremist? PLEASE.

Shame on you RT ! This is very bad journalism – Whilst the Interview was fairly neutral and informative, the video showed a number of bizarre religious practices that have nothing to do with Jehovah’s witnesses ! Sadly, viewers will naturally, but wrongly assume that the video is related to the interview. This is nothing but propaganda – It made me wonder who is trying to brainwash who here ?

Ben October 06, 2010, 00:10 quote

Video footage is not a portrayal of the religious activities of Jehovah's Witnesses, very misleading on the part of RT. It is well established that Jehovah's witnesses have been active in Russia for over 100 years, and, during that time, thousands have been imprisoned for their faith, many for decades. It plays well for critics to say that Jehovah's Witnesses are extreme because they do not accept blood transfusions because the bible says to "abstain from blood", however, in recent times the medical community worldwide is beginning to adopt a new "gold standard" in medical care. Today, hundreds of hospitals around the world are performing all kinds of procedures, including heart surgery, transplants, etc. without using blood products. These patients recover more quickly, and have better long term survival rates than their counterparts who receive blood. Techniques have been developed to minimize blood loss during surgery. This is saving countless lives. The fact is that complications from blood transfusions have killed millions unnecessarily, and are very dangerous. The claim that "thousands" of Jehovah's Witness have died because they have refused blood transfusions is a gross exaggeration. The vast majority that have refused blood have survived anyway, at least in survivable situations. One particular case I recall involved a young couple who were in a motorcycle accident and both received massive fatal head injuries, both were killed. Newspaper reports however gave the impression that they died because they did not accept blood, when in fact this had nothing to do with the cause of death. The truth is that a RELIGIOUS GROUP whether you believe in it or not, is being unfairly persecuted, in violation of international law. Public opinion is being manipulated by blatantly false and misleading propaganda, the RT story above is an example. The best way to find out the truth about these people is to see for yourself.

I disagree entirley with the title of this thread. If you think about it, banning the Jehovah witness could be the single most Democratic thing the Russian government has ever proposed. If you could get a show of hands across the country the Democracy of this action would be born out in the truest sense of the word, in fact it could be the single most Democratic thing any country has done for its "people" ever (basing this legislation purely on the show of hands system) This religion has the almost exclusive rights to peddle its Judaic/ Freemasonic/Noachite bondage door to door, the only other exception being the Mormons who only do this incidentally to make the "JW's" look less peculiar for it. The Russian people have endured a Noachite social Theocracy (the sofiets) they do not need a religious one. Please read Fritz Springmeier's Watchtower and the Masons and his Be Wise as Serpents for some eye opening information. Cheers to Alex Putin and MERRY CHRISTMAS

JWs truly have a very bad image in Russia because they talk about Bible cleanliness which goes against Russian lifestyle of corruption, prositution, alcholism, killing and war.  Oh no, Putin help mother Russia, their pamphlets will kill us all.  Russia must be like North Korea, who rid of their beautiful country of these people.

By the way, wasn't that Osama Bin Laden on the video bowing to Mecca?  Can't Russian News even find credible videos?

what do the russian government find wrong with jw,s. after the russian government aknoledged the fact the jehovahs witnesses were persecuted in concentration camps in ww2.is this just history repeating itself? the jehovahs witnesses are not extremists or terrorists as they dont believe in killing.how many bombs have they planted? none. i think the russian government should focus on religions that do promote harm to others and stop harrasing the jehovahs wittnesses.

nothing in this video has anything to do with jehovahs wittnesses but just like in ww2 this false propaganda only encourages hate and is everything that they work so hard against. If there were more jehovahs wittnesses this world would be a better place and these hypocrites need to take a close look at themselfs and lets see how many bible principals they apply in there own lives??

The reason why JWs are not liked is because they push themselves at people to proselytise.  I am Orthodox, but I don't believe in pushing my ideas on people if they don't want to hear them.  Even if they are receptive to my ideas, if they are not ready for them, it can be dangerous.  JWs are dogmatic and I personally consider acceptance of their ideas dangerous.  If they agree to talk to me like normal people and not proselytise, then I have no problem, but if they want to convert me all the time, then I am going to get upset, because they can't accept that I am not interested.  The latter they do all the time, and I don't like it - it is form of extremism.  Incidentally, I don't watch the football.

I actually find the reporting here in this video clip funny. RT just made itself look STUPID. Because you so overtly lied and falsely reported that the people in this video are Jehovah's Witnesses, you have made it easier for even the real JW haters to ignore anything you publish and discount it as simply FALSE. Thank you for being soooooooooooooooooooooo very EXAGGERATED in your reporting!! I need not say any more.

JW say nearly all other religions are False religions because God said make no Idols of me and people have churches with crosses and idols of Jesus and pictures. Because of this they feel the Armagedon will save them 1st.  God is changed to Jehovah in their bibles because of psalm74 I think it is where he says my name is Jehovah. God says I am the God of Israel but they ignore this. In Romans 11 its said all israel  will be saved but they say they are now the israel of god. I'm not a jew. Nearly all God said about blood must be put in the ground he is talking about animals that get killed for sacrifice or food.(old Test) I know a case of a son marrying a non JW and they did not speak to him again. They write watchtower magazines that have verses of the Bible put after most sentences because they believe you can not understand the  Bible just by reading it by itself. I don't believe they are bad people but misguided and self important but still restrict freedom of speech.

"Why are millions of people studying the Bible with the Witnesses? How are these studies conducted? Are students expected to become Witnesses themselves? At the very least, you are entitled to truthful answers. So do not listen to prejudicial hearsay, or rumor, but search for the facts. Says the Bible at Proverbs 14:15: “A simple man believes every word he hears; a clever man understands the need for proof.”—The New English Bible.

May this issue of Awake! help you to understand Jehovah’s Witnesses more fully and accurately. Indeed, the very fact that you are reading this magazine suggests that you have an open and fair mind. So why not do this: As you read the next articles and the accompanying boxes, look up the cited scriptures in your own Bible. Doing so is both wise and, as the Bible says, “noble-minded.”—Acts 17:11."
