A group of Russian war veterans and Australian politicians have gathered in Waverley Park in Sydney to commemorate the war and honor the fallen.

At the outbreak of war with Germany in 1939, many men from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and other parts of the British Empire volunteered, to help "the old country" - many later paid with their lives. After the war, they continued to help by sending food parcels to Britain, where rationing continued into the 1950s. We owe a lot to all of those people.
