Scientists and politicians from around the world are in Moscow to break the ice over the Arctic. They have gathered for an international conference on the future the rich natural resources under the Arctic Ocean.
I hope Russia will play smart this game. It"s all about world domination and trading routs but as always West is trying to spin topic talking (in this case) about environment. I hope that Russians have learn some lessons from their history especially regarding their northern territories (Alaska). Regards from Serbian brothers!
The second last of the great 'land grabs' is being played out before our eyes. This one, involving the Arctic will be peaceful, if not friendly, but the last one - Antarctica - may not be either. Don't let all the international agreements and laws currently protecting Antartica fool you. International laws and agreements have not prevented any wars or other serious violations by the great powers (or lesser powers for that matter) in the last decade, they are just as unlikely to protect Antartica in the next decade and beyond. It is clear that the vultures are already circling Antartica and expanding thier footholds under the guise of research and exploration.
Slobodan I agree wth you I am French Canadian and live right in front of a CF18 base. People kneel in front of these warriors especially since the government has started pretending that «« the bad Russians«« are «« comploting«« to steal our Arctic! The population here believes it of course. Not too many among the canadians realize that this speech comes directly from the US warriors who have ALWAYS told Canada what to say think and do. Tu 95 fly once and a while over the international air space over the Arctic , you should see the headlines in the papers when such an event happens!
