Yes the American Aggro corporations have written off the European market for their genetically engineered products. And in Europe there is no possibility of a market for these products as long as the packet is properly labeled. Any British Supermarket that sold unlabeled GM products would suffer a catastrophic loss of business when the secret got out. As it would with so many organizations checking on the actual contents of the goods on their shelves. European business leaders and EU bureaucrats have tried every device they know to provide a market for GM foods. With no success or prospect of it. And they know that if they disregard the EU citizens then direct action by those citizens will certainly follow.

Proliferation of GM crops can not be stopped. One day soon a "logistics error" will be made by one of the companies charged with the distribution of GM seeds. Risk for big companies like Monsanto or Cargill will be negligable because transport, logistics providers they use are seperate legal entities and as a rule have very few assets. Once the seed is planted, has grown and is harvested cross contamination will have taken place. All rules, regulations, safeguards will be rendered useless.

MacDonald's is also a hell hole, yet people line up on every corner for their burger. Those things won't even decompose if you leave them out for years. They'll look the same. So why people eat products of the chemical and biotech industries? Think before you eat. Scientist proven that cancer is not only a man made illness caused by our own contaminations, it wasn't existant in bodies tested. All these chemicals you eat and to which you expose can lead to an early death in the future. Why anyone even goes near a MacDonald's or buys a instant meal in the supermart is beyond me

You mean to tell me that high fructose corn syrup, mono sodium glutamate and a massive number of calories in fluids causes obesity and diabetes? I am shocked. It costs more to eat fruits and vegetables than it does to eat the processed garbage in a can. Does this puzzle anyone? Nobody smells a conspiracy? I've read studies showing that products sold in the US have higher levels of the stuff you don't want to eat than places in Europe. I strongly believe that this is one of the instruments used to destroy the US, horrible cheap foods that are seriously ravaging the United States. Many people don't know why they can't lose weight, I promise that if you switched to an organic diet and started drinking reverse osmosis water, you'd shed weight pretty naturally. Couple that with a little exercise and you'd be as fit as a fiddle. Google 'eat less, move more', funny madtv video.

Russia, please don't let my country men come and modernize your farms....They'll make your cows three times as fat with chemicals known to informed people, a tiny minority in my country, as "genetic engineered food" but then the bottom line is $$$$$$$ whether it is food, health or war in my self proclaimed the "greatest country "...Not only cows " Everything" eatable here in the US is full of chemicals......I was in Moscow last year and was saddened to see those Russians devour those poisonous hamburgers...a country with such great cuisine, eating our exported poison Macdonalds, Dunkin' Donuts, Pizza Hut, Coca-Cola to name a few.....Maybe if the US would have embargoed you after the Georgian crisis as they threatened, it would have been a blessing in disguise

@"a person":
actually if you divide cost by kilojoules, it's the unhealthy "foods" which are the most expensive. furthermore, fruits and vegetables are some of the only foods not subject to gst. (unless it's different in america, but on something like this i doubt it.)
the higher rates of excess weight in lower socio-economic groups is caused by misconceptions and a lack of nutritional education. which is odd, considering i vaguely remember being taught the food groups in grade 2...

Didn't need to read past the first few lines to find out that the author is not well-informed on this subject. Genetically modified foods are rarely, if ever, a problem - in fact, without them a good deal of the world's population would have starved to death. The problem is the additives, preservatives etc. which are in cheap foods. High fat and sugar content doesn't help, along with the attitude in the USA to food. You feed your kids shit, they feed their kids shit, etc.

Could have been a decent argument if it wasn't for the complete lack of knowledge.

I thought I liked RT - but this pointless and stupid anti american piece makes me not want to read or watch any more.
You realise that European nations are catching up fast in the fat race? As well as the China? Some cities in China now have an obesity rate of 20%.
One of the reasons why Americans got fattest first was that they developed to be the richest and most productive country first. Over the decades as other countries catch up they'll get fat too.
Watching the stupid opening sentence "well america is number one...at something! Being fat!" Made me not watch any more as I knew it would be idiotic. They are number one at many things, for instance they are number one in terms of GDP, number one in terms of resident billionaires, number one in terms nobel prize winners, they have the world's number one university, they are number one in military spending off the top of my head. But who cares anyway?
Just live your life and concentrate on achieving the best you can and your friends and family, not insulting other people because they happen to be born in between some imaginary lines drawn on a map 300 years ago.

As several people have already stated, the writer is terribly informed. In addition to some misinformation, the author is comparing two different arguments in a very poor manner.
Yes, preservatives, high sugar/fat contents, and highly processed foods are BAD for you, especially when you don't do sh!t all day except collect unemployment/drugs (essentially NOT exercise).
The second portion of the writers argument (GM foods) is pointless. Every since we domesticated crops, humans have been "developing" GM foods. Better yield, color, taste, resistance to drought/insects. The only difference is we are now making the plants resistant/immune to the pesticides that we use to ensure higher yield and healthier plants.
If you are fat, overweight, or obese, loosing weight is simple. First and foremost, it isn't f@#king magic. (Fewer calories in)+(Increase calories burned) = weight loss. Eat less and do more. If you go on a diet (i.e. temporary fix) it WILL FAIL. Change your life for the long term, or else there won't be a long term.
