nobody has died because of kalashnikov.  if a group of terrorists start going around beating innocent people to death with pots and pans are we going to blame wolfgang puck? or walmart for selling the pots and pans?

I certainly hope they've replaced those awful pistol sights with something easier to see through.

It is a fact that the Kalashnikov is responsible for the most deaths of any type of firearm. In the hands of people it has killed millions, but remember that guns don't kill, people do!

Just thought I would point out the absurdity of your argument. You are defending a company whose primary objective is to generate profit through creating and selling a product which serves no purpose other than to kill people as efficiently as possible. You cannot compare that to a company who makes cookware which might someday be used for something other than its intended purpose.

New AK, just like the old AK with new controls and a new stock. Time to do a full redesign, not just updating a 60 year old rifle again and again. Sure it's reliable and tough, but not accurate. And what happened to the AN-94, I thought that was the next greatest AK?

The US still uses the M16, but have developed the SCAR, ACR, M416, etc alongside it. The old Colts might not be as reliable, but they are more accurate with a smaller round.

WeAreYourGods - " The US still uses the M16, but have developed the SCAR, ACR, M416, etc alongside it."
You mean the US developed the ACR? The SCAR is Belgian and the M416 is actually the HK416 and is German. Just because the Americans take a piece of equipment and rename it to M-something doesn't mean they developed it...
The AK line was always developed to serve a purpose, to be reliable and operate in extreme conditions. If it isn't broke, don't fix it, but feel free to update it. I for one am quite interested in seeing how modular rifle will compare with the German G-series.

i will stick with my ak47 it works dose not jam like m16s and it can shoot through cinder-blocks not like the ak74 round  the new one better be as easy to strip and clean and be able to fill it with sand and mud and it work flawless the top back halve opens with the rear sight attached should have left the side scope mount rail on it the left hand cocking and right hand ejection will work great with right handed people  for quicker reload and cocking

I like how the fire control group and rear sight have been moved to make the AK a bit more user friendly.

"The new and improved 3rd World murdering and slaughtering device!!!" The real question is, "why are a significant number of third worlders so quick to slaughter each other?" We'll never hear the answer to that question because it would destroy political correctness and destroy the falsehood that all people and cultures are equal.

Yeah, hand held weapons are sooo 20th century. So barbaric. Much better to slaughter people with drones from miles away, or drop bombs on them from stealth aircraft. It's so much "cleaner". So much more morally acceptable. Especially when the killers are bloodthirsty, Judeo-fascist boot-licking Western hypocrites, seeking to advance an agenda for complete world domination and control.

@And to be perfectly clear and fair on the subject, seems we observe it that way, the real gilt for it traces back to the Norwegian - Nobel Alfred who invented the gun-powder. After which technological advancement, at the time, the west began the massive colonisation around the world.
